Our latest properties, a block of 8 apartments at Farriers Court, Egmont Road, Easebourne, are now complete, officially opened, and new tenants appointed.
Clare Apel, Chair of Chichester District Council, officially cut the ribbon in front of joining tenants at the opening of the properties. Clare said “This is a wonderful development to fill a much needed housing requirement. I personally would like to congratulate all those involved in this Community Land Trust project and wish them all the best for the future”.
Andrew Griffith, MP for Arundel and South Downs, also attended the event and spoke of the importance of community led projects and said “Low cost housing for local people is a much needed mission. My congratulations to everyone involved”.
The block consists of 2 two bedroom and 6 one bedroom apartments. The Trust is renting the apartments at affordable rents, being 70% of the relevant market rate. They are designed to support families and individuals from the area and key workers who are essential for health services and the economy.
Commenting on their new homes the new tenants said, “it means everything – it will make a massive difference to me”, “I’ve now seen the flat, it is very up to date and spacious, I can walk to work and I’m looking forward to moving in”.
David Coote, one of the directors of the Trust said, “Affordable housing is a necessity of life. These apartments will make a very big difference for 8 people and their families”.
Adrian Moore, the Trust’s chairman said, “We are really grateful to Chichester District Council, the South Downs National Park Authority, Friends of Midhurst Cottage Hospital and the Boltini Trust, for their exceptional help in enabling us to buy these new homes. This is our second venture with Metis Homes, and we are very pleased to be working with them again.
